The event will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 7, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Charles R. Dassance Fine Arts Center at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road.

“A new unified yet very ancient way of looking at nature and reality may help heal the schism between the domains of science and religion,” said Dr. Scott Olsen, CF professor of Philosophy and Religion, who will present the lecture as part of the Sarala Ramkrishna Karve Endowed Chair from the CF Foundation. “Insights into the harmonic numerical patterns behind all phenomena may show the way for solving the most difficult problems in not only physics, biology and aesthetics, but also in the foundations of transformative spiritual experiences.”

It is now in eight foreign languages — Greek, Russian, Slovenian, Czech, Norwegian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean — and has resulted in invitations to lecture throughout the world. This visually illustrated talk will serve as both a status report on research findings for his new book as well as the annual meeting lecture of The Interfaith Alliance of Marion County.

Webber Gallery to Host 'Symphony of Sights: 45 Years of FAFO'

The College of Central Florida will host “A Symphony of Sights: 45 Years of FAFO” at the Webber Gallery. The exhibit, which is comprised of the permanent collection of Fine Arts for Ocala, opens on Feb. 9 with a reception from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Webber Center at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. There is no fee to attend the exhibit or reception.

FAFO was formed in 1967 with the simple mission to promote the appreciation of fine arts and enhance art education in the community. With that vision in mind, a determined group of art lovers formed a nonprofit organization and began the Ocala Arts Festival. This exhibit features artworks purchased from the festival and represents the scope of art FAFO has brought to the community.

“For many people in Ocala, FAFO simply refers to the annual art festival,” said Tyrus Clutter, FAFO board member and assistant professor of Visual Arts at CF. “While FAFO is more than just the event held each October, it is fitting that people connect the visual arts in Ocala to FAFO. For decades the organization has brought regional and national art and artists to Marion County, and this fine collection of work, obtained over many years, provides an excellent glimpse at why the FAFO Art Festival continues to draw more people than any other arts event in Ocala.”

The festival is considered one of Central Florida’s premier art shows. FAFO also hosts the Symphony Under the Stars each Mother’s Day to bring performing arts to the community. FAFO continues to support arts education through scholarships and various community programs.

The exhibit will continue through March 22. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The gallery is closed Sundays, Mondays and college-observed holidays.
