The College of Central Florida and Haven Hospice have collaborated to offer a Certified Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide program beginning Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Haven Hospice, 311 N.E. Ninth St. Chiefland.

An information session about the program will be held at the Levy Center, 114 Rodgers Blvd., Chiefland, Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 4:30 p.m.

“It is exciting to have both agencies working together to provide high quality training for high demand occupations,” said Marilyn Ladner, provost of the CF Levy Center.

This program prepares the individual for work as a nursing assistant in nursing homes and prepares students to take the Florida CNA exam. The course consists of classroom instruction as well as lab practice and clinical experience. Students will have their mandatory clinical hours at Haven Hospice and Ayers Nursing Home.

Students must have a high school diploma and complete the Test of Adult Basic Education. Students are also required to pass a level two background screening and complete a physical with immunizations before enrolling.

The Home Health Aide class will meet Monday through Thursday, Dec. 2-5, from 4:30-9:30 p.m. To register for the HHA class a student must pass the CNA class. The course fee is $189 plus textbook.
