College of Central Florida will offer a four-day, science camp to high school students through a grant from Progress Energy. The Energy Efficiency and Alternative Energy 2010 Summer Camp will be offered in two sessions at the CF Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road.
High school students are invited to apply for one of the sessions which will be held Monday through Thursday, June 21-24 and June 28-July 1. Camps will meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Ewers Century Center. There is no fee to attend.
The camps will introduce students to the world of engineering alternative energy solutions. Students will learn how to develop energy efficiencies and alternatives to current technologies. They will learn about alternative fuel sources such as solar power and wind turbines and issues regarding sustainability. Students will also have the opportunity to examine careers in engineering technology.
Successful participants may earn a college credit in Engineering Technology. The camps will be led by a Florida-certified science instructor whose expertise is in Biology and Ecology.
