College of Central Florida has been granted final approval to offer four-year degrees. The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has granted Level II accreditation and CF will offer its first bachelor’s degree program beginning in January 2011.

"Our accrediting agency has reviewed our application and has confirmed that we are qualified to move to Level II accreditation," said Dr. Charles Dassance, CF president. "I am very pleased that we can now move forward with finalizing our plans to begin serving the community in a new way."

The Bachelor of Applied Science in Business and Organizational Management has specializations in Agribusiness Management, Health Care Management, Management Information Systems and Public Safety Administration. The application for the program will be available this fall. Tuition will be $105.22 per credit hour for Florida residents and $465.22 for nonresidents.

"Our primary mission of providing access through an open door philosophy will remain in place," Dassance said. "We will also continue our strong focus on the ‘2 Plus 2’ statewide articulation process as the primary means for our students to obtain four-year degrees."

CF began the process to offer baccalaureate degrees after approval of the CF District Board of Trustees in January 2009. The State Board of Education granted approval in March 2009.

A Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education -- Pre-K through Grade 3 will be offered beginning in August 2011 pending final approval by the Florida Department of Education for Early Childhood Education Certification.

For 16 years, CF has provided access to baccalaureate degree programs through university partnerships. Approximately half of the institutions in the Florida College System are now offering baccalaureate degrees to meet community needs.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states.
