The College of Central Florida Levy Center will offer the public an opportunity to learn about the smallest animal with a backbone -- the hummingbird!
The two-hour presentation will be given on Friday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to noon. Preregistration is required prior to Monday, May 2. The fee is $15.
Instructor Carolyn Retey is a 15-year member of the Marion County Audubon Society and she travels extensively with her bird watching hobby. On previous visits to the Levy Center she has lectured on basic bird watching; this time she will focus on the three species of hummingbirds usually seen in Florida. She will discuss their favorite flowers and how to attract them to your backyard by using nectar feeders, water features and more.
Register in person at the Levy Center, 114 Rodgers Blvd., Chiefland; by telephone at 352-493-9533; or online at CFItraining.cf.edu (select Levy noncredit classes).
