Florida author Jeff Klinkenberg will share stories from his new book, "Pilgrim in the Land of Alligators," at Central Florida Community College on Thursday, Feb. 18.
The presentation begins at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Ewers Century Center at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. It is the first event in CFCC’s Sustainability Speaker Series.
Klinkenberg is a native Floridian who has been a reporter for the St. Petersburg Times since 1977. "Pilgrim in the Land of Alligators" is a collection of his award-winning columns that reveal the character of the state through its people.
"Jeff Klinkenberg is a Florida Treasure," say Gary R. Mormino and Raymond Arsenault in the foreword. "He reminds Floridians that the paradise that drew generations of New Englanders and Ohioans to the Sunshine State can still be found."
Klinkenberg’s work has appeared in Esquire, Outside and Audubon, and his essays are often featured on NPR. He has twice received the Paul Hansell Distinguished Journalism Award, the highest honor of the Florida Society of Newspaper Editors.
