The African-American Student Union of the College of Central Florida will present the Pathways to Freedom 2013 exhibit in celebration of Black History Month.
The exhibit, which was developed by Leroy Chandler, will be on display Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. in the Ewers Century Center, Room 108, at the Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road. Chandler will present a lecture about the exhibit at 12:30 p.m. that day. The exhibit will continue Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is no fee for the exhibit or lecture.
The collection consists of photographs, artwork, news articles, buttons and cards. On display will be more than 2,000 artifacts ranging from slave trade to the Civil War, from reconstruction and the Jim Crow south to the Civil Rights movement and election of Barack Obama, America’s first black president.
